Our current series of polls will be informing the way we deliver our advice and services. So far, the people of Guernsey have told us that overall, as a community:

  1. We want to live in houses with gardens;

  2. We don't want to use up the countryside to build more houses with gardens;

  3. We would prefer to have access to the countryside than have a big garden;

  4. We would prefer to live near leisure & cultural facilities than near public transport routes or friends and family;

  5. We would prefer to live in neighbourhoods where people own their own houses; and

  6. Our living rooms should have the best view to the outside.

These answers help us to understand the conflicting demands of the community, and help us to identify where there may be a need to engage with attitudes and expectations that don't match the practical constraints of living on an island.

We hope you enjoy our polls as they continue over the summer.
