As you'll have seen from earlier posts, Jeremy has been painted like an ordinary (but very special) Puffin, to begin with. Without giving too much away about the way Jeremy will look when finished, Jeremy's artist, Willow Brock, has been using Jeremy to display in a visual way her experience of the world as someone who has what many people understand as Asperger Syndrome. Willow experiences synesthesia, which is the perception of one sense through another. For Willow, this means that many sounds that she hears manifest as colours in her vision. This creates a disorientating and overwhelming experience of the world for her, quite different from the one that most people have, and makes busy, noisy environments very hard to navigate.

Painting Jeremy has been a chance for Willow to show the world a glimpse of how she perceives it herself.
